Proposition 2024

  • The complete repertoire must be performed by memory, except piano duo categories.
  • The jury selects candidates who will perform at the final concert.
  • All selected candidates are obliged to perform at the final concert. Otherwise, they lose the right to a prize.

DISCIPLINE PIANO SOLO


Pre-category: candidates born in 2015 and younger – free-choice repertoire, which may not exceed 5 minutes.

Category A: candidates born in 2013 and younger – a piece from the Baroque period and free-choice repertoire, which may not exceed 8 minutes.

Category B: candidates born in 2011 and younger – a piece from the classical period and free-choice repertoire, which may not exceed 12 minutes.

Category C: candidates born in 2009 and younger – a piece from J. S. Bach, a piece from the classical period; and free-choice repertoire, which may not exceed 15 minutes.

Category D: candidates born in 2007 and younger – one movement of a classical sonata (sonata form) by Clementi, Haydn, Mozart or Beethoven (except Op. 49 and Op. 79); one Scarlatti Sonata and free-choice repertoire, which may not exceed 20 minutes.

Category E: candidates born in 2005 and younger – one movement of a classical sonata (sonata form) by Haydn, Mozart or Beethoven (except Op. 49 and Op. 79); one virtuoso etude ; and free-choice repertoire, which may not exceed 25 minutes.

Category F: candidates born in 2003 and younger – one movement of a classical sonata (sonata form) by Haydn, Mozart or Beethoven (except Op. 10/1, Op. 49 and Op. 79), J. S. Bach: Prelude and Fugue (WTK) or another significant Bach’s piece; one virtuoso etude (Rachmaninov, Chopin, Liszt, Prokofjev, Scriabin, Debussy); and free-choice repertoire, which may not exceed 30 minutes.

Category G: candidates born in 1999 and younger (The Competition will consist of two rounds)

  • 1st Round (eliminatory): One movement of a classical sonata (sonata form by Haydn, Mozart or Beethoven (except from Op.10 / 1, Op 49 and Op 79); Prelude and Fugue by J. S. Bach (WTK) or another significant Bach’s piece; one virtuoso etude (Rachmaninov, Chopin, Liszt, Prokofjev, Scriabin, Debussy); and free-choice repertoire, which may not exceed 25 minutes.
  • 2nd Round Free program for a total duration of up to 25 minutes. Competitors are not allowed to repeat compositions they performed in the first round.

Candidates who win a majority of jury votes pass into the 2nd round. The scores of competitors who successfully pass from the 1st round, are not announced. The scores of the first and second rounds are added together and divided by two.

Candidates who do not advance into 2nd round receive certificates of participation.

The results for each category will be published at the end of each category on the same day.


DISCIPLINE PIANO DUO


All performed pieces must be originally written for piano four hands or for two pianos.

The first category: candidates born in 2013 and younger – At least two pieces from different periods styles not exceed 8 minutes.

The second category: candidates born in 2009 and younger – At least two pieces from different periods styles not exceed 12 minutes.

The third category: candidates born in 2005 and younger – At least two pieces from different periods styles not exceed 20 minutes. One of them must be written for piano four hands.

The fourth category: candidates born in 1999 and younger – At least two pieces from different periods styles not exceed 25 minutes. It is obligatory to perform one piece written for piano four hands and one piece written for two pianos.

The results for each category will be published at the end of each category on the same day.
