Marijana Perković

Marijana Perković was born in 1970 in Sarajevo where she finished elementary and then secondary music school (instrumental department) under professor Vesna Ljujić. She continues her piano studies at the Music Academy (University of Sarajevo) under professor Dunja Dimitrijević and Neda Stanković.

She won multiple first prizes at competitions in categories solo and chamber music. During her studies and after, she gave numerous concerts in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the neighbouring region as a solo performer, an accompanist, or as a member of chamber ensembles.

In 1995, as a part of a trio, she participated in producing „Moderato cantabile“, a classical music programme, for the Bosnian National TV Station. She is a member of the trio „MaNeRa“.

Since 1994 she works full-time in the elementary music school “Mladen Pozajić” in Sarajevo where she achieved the highest academic title possible in pedagogical work (senior advisor). In the course of her work at the school, she also acts as an accompanist for string and wind ensembles, as well as choirs.

She taught piano as a major subject from 1999-2002 at the Music Academy of the University of Sarajevo. From 2008-2010 she was a professor of piano at the Secondary Music School in Sarajevo.

As a pedagogue, she won over 80 first and special prizes with her students at National and International competitions in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the neighbouring region for solo and chamber music categories. During these competitions, her students received the highest accolades – laureates. Many of her students continue their music education, and as successful students they build their careers in Bosnia and Herzegovina and abroad.

Perković often serves as a jury member for piano competitions. She was also a member and the chair of the committee for compiling piano curriculums for elementary music schools of Sarajevo Canton.

Aside from her pedagogical and artistic work, from 1993-2000 (including 3 years of war) she led and conducted a youth choir „Shalom“ with whom she recorded an album „Bells of peace“. From 1992-1995 she worked for the Italian humanitarian association „Ai.Bi. Amici dei Bambini“ as a support for families and children who lost their fathers during the war.
